Excellent post. I am still a firm believer in proxies though. Architecturally speaking, the “issue” resides on the client (browser). Any solution that requires the server to change is IMO a hack. Servers should not be responsible for managing clients.

Just a few humble side notes: multithreading and parallel programming are not entirely different concepts. we can assume that every parallel program is also multithreaded, right? However, a multithreaded program can have different parts executing at the same time if hardware allows that, which makes it sort of a parallel program. And other thing is saying that parallel programming divides the main task into smaller parts can be true for task parallelism, however in data parallelism you do not break the task down to small units of execution but small units of data.

It should be noted that git has EXCELLENT support on OS X, including lots of graphical front ends. Even in the Windows environment with the maturity of TortoiseGit, git is easily the equal of other SCM systems.

It seems like at the time your biggest complaint was the integration with Eclipse, and I’ll grant you that it was not mature at that time. However, the world has changed dramatically since then, so I’m not sure why you’re re-tweeting this entry as if it were the truth today.

Your points (1) and (2) are generally agreed on. In particular, what you write in (2) is C++ FAQ item, currently 6.5 Is C++ better than Ada? (or Visual Basic, C, FORTRAN, Pascal, Smalltalk, or any other language?). Points (3) and (4), well those seem to be very context dependent and debatable…
